Partygoers are being urged to stay safe this Friday (20 December), the last one before Christmas and traditionally one of the busiest days for festive revellers.

As many work places break up for the Christmas holidays, Cumbria’s leading commissioner of health services, NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are urging people not to take risks and stay safe.

They are issuing a four-point plan to help revelers stay safe:

1.   With the cold weather continuing, take a coat out so you can stay warm.

2.   Have a back-up plan to enable you to get home, but never drink drive or resort to walking home alone.

3.   To avoid your drink being tampered with, don't leave it unattended.

4.   Most importantly look out for your friends, stick together and make sure you tell someone if you begin to feel unwell.

NHS Cumbria CCG’s Clinical Chair, Dr Hugh Reeve said: "People need to look after one another and be mindful of their own wellbeing to ensure they have a safe and enjoyable night."

"Just doing a few simple things before you go out, such as making sure that you let people know where you are and not walking home alone, should help keep you safe and make for safe start to the festive period."
