Abbey Road Surgery Update – 2nd August 2016

Posted on Tuesday 2nd August 2016

Services at Abbey Road Surgery are back up and running after recent disruption.

Following further investigations it has been decided that all but two consulting rooms can reopen.

The surgery kept many of its services running from the building, including appointments and prescriptions, but also used facilities at nearby premises to continue appointments.

The building has now been classified as safe but two consulting rooms are still out of use until some repairs can be made to the front elevation of the building. This means GPs will still be using the rooms at Murrays Pharmacy on Friars Lane for some of their appointments for the time being. Staff will continue to ensure that patients are told where their appointment will be.

Administration and nursing staff will be based back at Abbey Road by the end of this week.

Abbey Road Surgery Practice Manager, Janet May, said: “We would like to thank our patients for their support and patience during this time and we are pleased to report that we are now moving back to a near normal service. We still have some GP appointments taking place at Murrays Pharmacy but patients will be seen by their own doctor, and we will continue to contact any patients who are affected.

We’re really grateful to Murray’s, Atkinson Health Centre and Bridgegate Medical Practice for their support and to our staff for their flexibility. Patients can contact the surgery on our usual numbers for future appointments or other enquiries.”

Appointments, enquiries and repeat prescriptions should still go through the main switchboard on 01229 821 599
