The aim of the Act is to create a climate of openness in the public services and amongst other things, to inform people how public authorities make their operational decisions and how public money is used.

Please note that if your request for information is about IT services or Telephony, these services are managed by North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, on behalf of the CCG. You would need to contact the Trusts directly for this information. 

If you wish to make a request for information it should be in writing (or email) stating the information that is required, your name plus organisation name (if appropriate), and a contact address for correspondence. Requests should be sent to the Freedom of Information Administrator (see contact details below).

In some cases, however, information may not be provided; this is where an exemption applies. An example of this is where the required information contains personal information (this will continue to be covered by the conditions of the Data Protection Act 1998). Another is where the requested information is available by other means – for example on our website, so you may need to check there first before putting in a request for information.​​​​​​​

Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to see or be given a copy of personal data held about you.

To gain access to your information you will need to make a Subject Access Request (SAR) to NHS North Cumbria CCG. North of England Commissioning Support Unit (NECS) handles these requests on our behalf.

You should therefore be aware that, your request will be forwarded to NECS in order that it can be actioned. 

With your permission, NECS staff will access relevant records and information regarding your request and share this with the CCG.

We may charge a reasonable fee for the administration of the request, set down in law as follows:

  • If the information is only held electronically we may charge up to £10 for complying
  • If the information is only held wholly or partly in paper format we may charge up to £50 for complying.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have a right under section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to apply for a decision by the Information Commissioner as to whether we have properly dealt with your request.

Please note that an application to the Information Commissioner may be refused if you have not exhausted any organisational review (complaint) procedure we provide, if there has been undue delay in making it, if the Information Commissioner considers your application is frivolous or vexatious or if your application has been withdrawn or abandoned.
